Trade Show Graphic Design Services FAQ & Artwork Requirements
Original Trade Show Booth Designs by Imprinted Originals

We specialize in the design of large-format graphics for trade shows & events. We offer the same level of expertise and attention to detail when developing artwork for promotional products, including branded apparel.

We work with 2 types of clients. First are the professionals in marketing, trade shows and events, who usually start us off with one project and then discover we are as dedicated to getting the job done right for them as they are, and then they just love handing off more and more.

Sometimes these are in-house specialists at medium and large sized companies and sometimes they are marketing and event agencies who tap into our specialized knowledge.

Our second set of clients are folks who are new to trade shows or events and really need someone as much for guidance and looking out for them as much as the "stuff" we sell or design services we provide our more experienced clients. Sometimes these folks are not exactly new, but are frustrated with their results and are eager to reach a new level.

For these folks we can help deciding not only what to include in the design, but what to leave out and explain why.

Yes we can!

We know the specifications of the graphics for many brands of trade show displays, but for others, we may need some information in order to be certain the graphics are created properly since each brand and/or model may be a little different.

If you provide us with the brand and model of your display, we can get the necessary information. If you don't know the brand and model, we may need the display, the existing panels, or some detailed measurements in order to produce your new graphics.

For certain fabric displays, we will need the frame, and if available, the existing fabric "skin", to ensure a proper fit.

For pop up displays, there is also panel hanging hardware that is attached to the top, and usually the bottom, of each panel that allows the panels to hook onto the display at the top. This hardware tends to vary by manufacturer, so if you want to keep your existing graphics in addition to your new ones, you will need new panel hangers as well. Again, with the correct information we can usually get these for you. If you aren't keeping your old graphics, we may be able to remove the old panel hangers and reuse them which will save you some money.

Despite the fact that our printers are among the best in the industry at producing repeatable color, while it is possible, this is generally not a good idea. But that's not to say it can not be done.

If each panel of your booth is different so that alignment and color matching isn't an issue, then there's no reason why you couldn't do this, but there are several potential issues to be aware of if you are trying to replace one or two panels of a continuous mural.

Even if the background color of the adjacent panels are solid black or white, it could be difficult to get an exact color match to a previous job due to factors such as fading, condition of the substrate, as well as the fact that the materials used get changed by the manufacturers from time to time.

The process of producing a multi-panel mural involves very precise alignment and trimming, so trying to substitute panels later would almost certainly create some alignment issues. For that reason, you would need to provide us with the frame and all existing panels so we can inspect the unit for any damaged or missing hanger components, match the replacement substrate to the adjacent panels and insure precise alignment of the new panels.

So, while it is possible, we don't recommend doing it unless subtle color and alignment differences in the design are not a problem.

Templates are available for many of our products. Exact dimensions are available for others.

A mural is a large single graphic image printed on flexible PVC panels. The image may span across several panels (a 10’ Pop-up has 4 Front Panels) and may even continue onto the display’s end caps if desired.

Mural panels may hang on hooks at the top of the frame of a popup display and have magnet strips along the edge which connect to the frame’s channel bars or be attached with Velcro at the top and bottom on hybrid displays with aluminum extrusion frames. This makes mural panels easy to align for a seamless image.

Rollable graphics are generally smaller graphics, printed on flexible PVC, commonly used with pop-up displays that have Velcro receptive fabric panels covering the frame. These types of display graphics use Velcro strips to adhere the graphic panel to the fabric surface.

Fabric graphics are created by the process of dye sublimation (printing an image onto paper and then heat is applied to transfer the dye directly onto the fabric). Dye sublimation graphics may be printed on opaque or sheer fabrics and finished with Velcro, grommets, pole pockets, or a silicone beading around its edge that fits into metal extrusions.

For opaque prints a liner is added to serve as a light blocker or a second print may be sewn onto the back to create a double-sided graphic. The translucent or sheer fabric creates a bleed through effect, allowing you to see the mirror image on the back of the print. The fabric type used may be mechanical (fixed size), or tension (designed to stretch), depending on the requirements of the display.

VECTOR: Vector art is made up of lines and curves defined by mathematical objects called vectors. Vector art is resolution independent. Therefore, it can be scaled to any size without loss of quality. Save your vector art as EPS or AI files. IMPORTANT: Vector based text should be converted to outlines before send us your artwork.

RASTER: Raster art is created using a program like Adobe Photoshop or scanned art (such as photographic image). A raster image consists of a grid, or bitmap, of small squares known as pixels. Raster images are resolution dependent (set at a fixed resolution). So simply increasing the size of a small image will result in a reduction in image quality. Save your raster art as layered PSD files. IMPORTANT: Raster based text should be converted to shapes before send us your artwork.

Standard production time is 5-10 business days after approval of the artwork proof(s). Production time for some products may be longer during the height of the exhibiting season.

Vector files (AI and/or EPS) with all text converted to outlines, or layered PSD files, saved at 100, 150, or 300 DPI (depending on the product) with all text converted to shapes.
